Vets Helping Vets: Contact the Post if you or a Veteran you know needs help
Since our charter in 1926, American Legion Post 12 has been welcoming VETERANS from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving your God, Country and Community.
A Great Start to 2024!
Post 12 started 2024 off with a bang, recruiting three new Legionnaires., and voting in a complete year of Post activities including fund raisers for our building project, oppertunities to serve veterans in the Wiregrass Area, and serving our community. We would love for you to join us in 2024!
Meet Adam Marr, Tango Alpha Lima podcast co-host, and Post 12 Chaplain. As a U.S. Army Apache helicopter pilot, Adam Marr deployed to Iraq where he flew more than 400 combat hours and was awarded the combat action badge. In 2017, Marr co-authored the best-selling book, "Tales from the Blast Factory” where he shared the challenges his brother, a Green Beret, faced transitioning out of the Army because of his TBI and PTSD injuries sustained in combat. This book was the inspiration for the Academy Award-qualified documentary film Quiet Explosions: Healing the Brain (2020). In this episode, Marr discusses the challenges his brother faced, his own struggles, and his current work as Director of Operations for the Veteran Mental Health Leadership Coalition, a group of more than 45 organizations that advocates for increased research and safe, affordable access to psychedelic medicine and assisted therapies for Veterans and their family members.
Post 12 Building Fund Campaign
The Houston County Commission gifted a 5-acre piece of property for us to build a new home one. There are a few deed restrictions that need to be addressed prior to us moving forward, but we hope to have those addressed early in 2024.
We have many fundraisers on-going and planned for 2024 to help us raise funds for a new facility and reach our ultimate goal of a permenant home for Post 12, to help us not only better serve the veterans or the Wiregrass, but to better serve the community as a whole. We welcome your support and donations.
